Setting Big Goals to Heal and Feel Empowered

Author: Jenny Mannion  |  Category: healing, personal development

Setting goals empowers you.  Setting goals gives you direction.  Setting goals tells your inner self that you do love and trust in yourself to move forward.  Setting goals affirms that you realize you are an active participant in creating the life you want.  If anyone had told me to set big goals when I was ill I would have thought they “just did not understand how badly I felt”. While healing myself it became evident I NEEDED to set goals to heal and feel empowered instead of feeling dis-empowered and like “I couldn’t do anything”.  Now I am setting goals larger than I ever imagined and use setting goals as a tool when I am mentoring clients through my “Paging Me System“. No matter WHAT your state of mind and health is — you can set goals in one or many areas of your life.  I want to talk to you about WHY setting goals is important to your well being, tell you about breaking goals into mini goals and tell you about a couple of BIG goals I have just set for myself.  Of course I LOVE when you share and welcome comments and conversations about goals you have set.

Why Set Goals

Most of our decisions in life are based on whether or not we can give ourselves permission to tackle the big things. Whether or not we give ourselves permission is based on the amount of courage and self-esteem that we possess.”  — From Alex Shalman’s post,  “Permission to Think Big

My friend Alex put it so well.  Setting goals tells our inner self that we do have self esteem and courage.  It is a way of empowering ourselves.  It is a way of not giving up or giving in to what we are “assuming our circumstances to be”. There is always another way of looking at things.

If there are parts of your life you are unhappy with (or even parts you just want to TWEAK a bit) setting goals can let you see how it CAN be better.  It is a check-in system of every part of your life and an action plan of what to do in each to move forward in a direction you want your life to go in.

When ill or upset about life in general I know it can be difficult to see yourself tackling big goals but it is all in your perspective.  You can set goals in all different areas of your life; relational goals, financial goals, emotional goals, physical goals, mental goals, spiritual goals and more. When I was ill I was focusing on what I couldn’t do or accomplish. I AGONIZED over it! Chronic pain can definitely make you feel dis-empowered. I went from being someone who had her list of 20-30 things that “needed to get done daily” to someone who was told she would only get worse and would be immobile — and I BELIEVED IT.

When you say to yourself “I want to make this happen” whether it is coming into a better relationship with a loved one, walking regularly, making new friends, becoming more intuitive, learning something new or anything else you can imagine — you are telling yourself there is hope and you are NOT giving up on yourself. You are putting that possibility out there “what IF I could make this happen?” and naming what you want.  Many of us tend to generalize “I just want to be happy”, “I would like to find a good mate” but the clearer you get (YES writing it down HELPS tremendously) the better chance there is of it happening.  WHAT would make you happy in the different areas of your life? Think about them one at a time or set a few goals in a few different areas of your life. I usually have a few at a time I am working on in different areas.  If one area seems a bit “stuck” it helps me to look at another area and go back to the first with a fresh perspective rather than pushing when I am meeting resistance.

Do you feel too ill to set physical goals right now? Then start with goals in other parts of your life.  As you build your self esteem from things accomplished setting bigger and bigger goals in other parts of your life won’t seem that impossible anymore.  You WILL begin to come into your power and see that Yes, You CAN Make Your Life Better.

JUST the Word Goals can set people into panic but that need not be the case.  My favorite definition of goals is: the final destination of a journey. LIFE is a journey and if you don’t have your course set and an image of where you are going — you are likely to feel like you are treading water in a turbulent ocean instead of being guided and coasting to your destination. If you are not sure WHAT you would even want then maybe it is time to take some time for yourself and ask yourself What Is Guiding You?

If big goals scare you — you can either begin smaller or you can break those big goals into mini goals.

Mini Goals

Since this IS a part of what I coach from I have written about them before in “Mini Goals to Heal Pain and Move Forward with Life” and “Five Writing Exercises to Help Heal Pain“. I feel mini goals make setting goals a whole lot easier.  If I had said “I want to totally be healthy” but did not flesh out steps I was taking to make that happen… it would have seemed staggering to me.  It might have even made me immobile because of the sheer enormity of that statement.  When you set mini goals or baby steps to make things happen you are allowing yourself to celebrate each step accomplished. You are gaining confidence each step of the way.  You are also allowing yourself some room to revise the goal if it suddenly seems you are being led in a different direction or a smaller goal would be just fine. An example:

You want to lose weight and to do that you believe you need to work out 5 times a week for 30 minutes a day.  It would be difficult to go from inactivity to this all of a sudden so you take little steps to build yourself up.  Perhaps you begin with 1-2 times a week and get up to 3 times and you feel THAT is the level that is comfortable for you. You are seeing results and feel that 5 times would be overkill and you don’t know how to fit it into your schedule. Mini goals allows you to re-asses along the way and to celebrate EACH success along the way.

Please congratulate yourself for EACH and EVERY small step.  It is a step forward you would not have taken before and that is progress.  Do not belittle it.  Do not listen to that little ego-ic voice saying it is not enough. It is YOU taking control over different aspects of your life and telling yourself you love yourself enough to do just that.  You can even set rewards in place if that helps you.  Whatever you need to motivate yourself and keep moving forward.  You can adjust the mini goals… life is always throwing in changes and you need to give yourself permission to “go with the flow” a bit. Resistance can cause immobility when it usually means there is a lesson to be learned or you are not going in the right direction for that moment.

I continue to set mini goals and now is the really the first time in my life and I am confident enough to set some Big Hairy Audacious Goals as well. :-)

My Big Hairy Audacious Goals

Thanks to my friend Suzie Cheel of Abundance Highway for not just introducing me to what BHAG’s were but for leading the way. I have admired Suzie for putting BIG goals out there publicly, living up to them and now FEEL I am ready to do the same.Thank you Suzie!!!! :-)

MY BHAG:  I am currently working on bringing the movie The Living Matrix to my town for an audience of around 500 people. This from someone who wasn’t quite a hermit but definitely had my close friends and was not very involved in my community for the first 4 of my 5 1/2 years living here. Luckily getting involved has been an intention and I have met some truly incredible people doing life changing things in my town and the surrounding area.

I KNEW I wanted people to see The Living Matrix after I saw it.  It touched me deeply.  It connected science to the healing work I was doing.  It defined the New Science of Healing so well and made so much sense.  I contacted the Producer, Susan Becker and talked to her about it.  She was an incredible person to talk to and was VERY supportive but she told me honestly, “You are going to need a lot of help with this”. If you know me you know one of my BIGGEST issues I still face is asking for help.  I got off the phone, sat in the room where I meditate and said to myself “I WANT to do this. This is going to bring much needed information to my community. Please show me HOW I can get the help I need to pull this off”.

I sat for a while thinking, meditating, praying (Yes — trying to do everything BUT WORRY — yeah of course SOME of that slipped in ;-) ) and went downstairs a half hour later. In my inbox was an email from the woman that ran the Spiritual Arts Fair in my community which I volunteered and did a workshop for.  The Spiritual Arts Fair was a HUGE event to organize and had been over a month before but it was THIS moment that I received an email from her.  I know there are no coincidences anymore and reached out to her and she said she would be DELIGHTED to help me.  The rest has been magical.  I have 2 other women working with us and we all have our own strengths to contribute to the project.  I have at least 20 other people in the community willing to hand out fliers, do marketing and spread the word. The original woman I spoke to is RELATED to a member of the cast. I found the perfect Non Profit to sponsor this so we can make it a non profit event…. They provide funding for people to be educated in wellness, alternative treatments and consciousness.  Meaning people who want to try alternative treatments but don’t have the money and people who would like to be educated in one of these modalities can apply for assistance through this organization.  It is all coming together and WOW have my eyes been open to what is possible.  Yes, we have our “work to do”. WOW do we!  But it is a beautiful way for me to get involved in my community and I keep picturing the end result. :-) I am sure I will keep you posted on this.

I have a few other BIG GOALS (not sure if they all fit the hairy audacious category) ;-) as well.

– I would love to be part of starting a wellness center in my town.  My husband, Ray is a 3rd degree Black Belt in Tae Kwon Do and currently has a Tae Kwon Do school that also hosts such classes as Tai Chi, belly dancing and yoga dance and I know plenty of healers who would love to be in one place.

– I just got asked to host a radio show that will be produced for me and need to get out there and look for sponsors – again, asking for help — unnatural to me — but necessary. “I can DO It” (she says with a hesitant grin). ;-)

– I STILL would love to pursue my invention (worked on it for 5 years then it took a back seat to coaching, healing and writing).

– I would love to continue with belly dance and yoga dance and be in the best shape of my life.

– I want have a book I have written published (okay maybe 10) but I would love to begin with my first one :-)

– I want to travel and meet some more of the wonderful people I have met online as well as visit friends and family I have not seen in years.

Believe it or not – I have more – but I will leave it at that! :-) Funny how freeing and scary this feels at the same time! ;-)

I never would have thought of setting these a few years ago and could not even have imagined where I am today in my career and personal life.  I am surrounded by open minded intelligent people, I am TOTALLY healthy (yeah yeah minus the last 10 lb – but I am told a belly is GOOD for belly dancing) ;-) , I look forward to every day and EXPECT miracles, I am so grateful for my website and the community here, I have clients that I adore and absolutely love Reconnective Healing, I am continually growing and working on myself and feel there is no limit to what I (OR ANYONE ELSE FOR THAT MATTER) can do! I love that the more I learn the more certain I am that I will ALWAYS be learning and re-assessing my goals to move forward. There is so much I want to do and experience and learn!!!!

Setting goals and breaking them down into mini goals in different areas of your life is a good way to figure out where you are and where you would like to be.  It is strategy to bring about action instead of immobility.  The more you flesh out your goals the better.  If you write them down that is AWESOME and it is something you can go back to and give yourself a pat on the back for how far you have come.  I know it can feel overwhelming — if it does — begin with an area of your life you just need some “tweaking” in, build your self confidence and self love and move on from there.  You can do it.  We all can live our best lives and come into our power but it begins with acknowledging where you are and setting goals for where you want to be.

I LOVE hearing about goals and stories of goals met.  Please share and let me know what you think about some of mine. :-) Any sponsors out there for a hip new radio show? ;-)

What is Guiding You?

Author: Jenny Mannion  |  Category: healing, personal development

Used with Permission of Artist.Even as “stuck” or clueless as we might feel sometimes — we ALWAYS have our guidance system to fall back on. Are you on automatic pilot feeling life HAPPENS to you? Do you ask yourself questions or even know that you CAN do that? Do you follow your intuition? Do you have a deep connection to God/The Divine/The Universe and use that connection to help you find your way? No one on this planet is alone. We are all very much connected and just as birds and fish can change formation in an instant and ants and bees never doubt what their jobs are — we too can tap into that and KNOW what to do by guidance. I would like to talk about automatic pilot, explain a few different ways to be guided and show how it relates to healing.  I feel that there are many ways to tap into this inner guidance system and once we do we can awaken to our own power and never feel alone again.

Automatic Pilot

This is the anti-guidance system. This is the “I am acting out of what I know because I can’t change myself”. This is the “I had SUCH a screwed up childhood and that’s why I am troubled”. This is repeating acts and behaviors that we are NOT proud of but we do NOT KNOW how to do anything differently so assume this is “JUST US”. Ummmm….. NO, NO and NOOOOO! None of the above is true and in fact none of those things could be LESS true. All of these thoughts are dis-empowering and can leave you feeling alone and helpless.

If you have read my interview with the Director, James Sinclair of the movie “What If?“, or seen the movie, you KNOW that by time we are 6 years old we already have our “automatic pilot” recordings. These beliefs are not necessarily even ours – they come from relatives, community and our surroundings YET we carry them with us as a “fall back system” when we are not conscious so we have some frame of reference on how to react to situations. When we stop to HEAR ourselves and ask ourselves if this is WHAT we really believe — wow some amazing answers and realizations come up. DO NOT rely on your automatic pilot — it is based on past experiences, ego and does not always have your best interest at heart. In consciousness you realize there are much better Guidance Systems to rely on.

Religion/Spirituality

I will not go into the differences here between these two because that is a post in itself. ;-) I WILL talk about the commonalities and the guidance we can get by relying on our spirituality or religion. What DOES religion or spirituality mean to you? Are you in church repeating prayers because that is what you were taught or does your religion resonate deeply with you and do you FEEL those prayers as you say them? Gregg Braden talks about the power of prayer in his brilliant book; “The Isaiah Effect: Decoding the Lost Science of Prayer and Prophecy“.  When you fully “GET” what prayer is — WOW is it powerful. If you are connected spiritually to God/The Universe/The Divine (insert your word here) you KNOW that you can ask questions and EXPECT answers.

I feel it is important in prayer not to beg, plead or say “why me?” — that is desperation and not prayer.  I find the most effective prayer begins in gratitude, thanking God for all you DO have.  FEELING that thanks in every cell of your body.  From that you can ask questions many different ways, writing them, saying them aloud or to yourself, before a meditation or prayer session, asking yourself right before bed and expecting an answer of some sort as you sleep, asking it as you wake and expecting to find the answer during the day or clues that lead you to it…. There is no “right” or “wrong” way — it is what resonates with you.

Intuition

I talked about this in “Do you Want to Get in Touch with Your Inner Psychic and Intuition?“. I also mentioned it in my review of “The Living Matrix” and in my post talking about the Science Behind Distance Healing when I talk about Heart Coherence.  Some would say intuition is the same as spirituality or religion but for those who do not resonate with that…you can still tap into this without claiming a religion or now saying you are spiritual.

Intuition is called our “sixth sense” and as I have been working on developing it for the last 1 1/2 years THAT is exactly what it feels like.  This is a sense we are all born with but are not taught to use.  In fact, when we are young if we were to report to our family “we just knew things” we might have been told “that can’t be” or even that we were strange and not to tell anyone we felt like that.

I feel my intuition comes from the connection with my heart.  When I quiet my mind (believe me it took years for me to even be able to do that for 10 seconds ;-) ) and turn to my heart and ask a question — I WILL receive an answer (even if not in that moment). There is the inner part of you that ALWAYS KNOWS what is best for you and holds answers.  Are you asking for answers?  It IS your right and everyone’s gift to be able to do so.  There are many ways to tap into this. Through Slade’s Automatic Intuitive Response classes I learned a few ways to ask and expect to receive answers.  Again, there is certainly not ONE way to do this.  Since this is a sense we all have it is a matter of practicing and like anything practice will make you better at it.  Anna Conlan of Healing and Insight wrote a brilliant series on Intuition and Part III is “The Two Keys to Recognizing your Intuition“. Andrea Hess also offer an insightful article on “Empowered Soul” called “How to Develop Your Intuition“.  There are many exercises and articles about this if you search the web.  Finding ones that resonate with you will make it more likely for you to do them regularly.  Don’t give up…. it does work… we all have this sense and life certainly flows a whole LOT easier when you know you can always look within and rely on your intuition as a guidance system.

What can you DO with this Guidance?

ANYTHING. TRULY. You can make decisions from the heart. You can tap into creativity. You can discover gifts you never even KNEW you had. You can figure out problems simple as “which way do I drive home to hit the least traffic?” to deeper more life changing questions. We all have Divine Gifts as Evelyn Lim of Attraction Mind Map pointed out in her post “Express Your Soul Gifts” and I agree with with my whole heart. We ALL have guidance to help discover what these gifts are. Here are some of my favorite quotes on guidance:

Caroline Myss, “Do not assume that divine guidance flows only when you are in need of help.  Guidance continues to flow whether or not you have problems.  It transcends problems, heartbreaks, and traumas, flowing through dreams and illuminations…. Whether guidance comes during times of tranquility or trauma, however, it is up to you to have the courage to acknowledge it….

Ram Dass, “The next message you need is always right where you are.

Sonia Johnson, We don’t need someone to show us the ropes.  We are the ones we’ve been waiting for.  Deep inside us we know the feelings we need to guide us.  Our task is to learn to trust our inner knowing.

Skakti Gawain, “Every time you don’t follow your inner guidance, you feel a loss of energy, loss of power, a sense of spiritual deadness.

And my favorite: Unknown, “Let your heart guide you. It whispers, so listen closely.

I love the following video from one of my favorite organizations TED and a favorite writer of mine Elizabeth Gilbert.  My friend the lovely Camille of Joyz a Choice recommended this to me a couple of months ago – thank Camille.  In it Elizabeth Gilbert talks about how guidance can fuel creativity.  I’d love your reactions to this one.

How Does Guidance Relate to Healing?

If you are one of my clients you know this one. ;-)   Thanks Suzie Cheel of “Abundance Highway” for posting about one of my favorite questions. :-) One of my most common questions right back to my clients when they tell me about a new sudden pain or uncomfortableness is “Have you asked your body about it?”.  I also ask my clients to ask their body “What can I do to make you feel better?”. (Of course I am not talking about a sudden pain in the chest or something you should clearly seek medical attention for).

In my own experience when I FELT I would heal myself I asked myself repeatedly what each and every pain and symptom was about. This was BEFORE I began studying intuition and I was STILL given answers.  I asked myself what activities would be in my best interest.  I asked myself what I was doing that was stopping myself from healing.  I asked and looking back I DID expect answers even though then I had no clue what I was doing. ;-)

I shifted from accepting my diagnoses (there were many) and allowing them to define me to questioning and asking my body and inner self WHAT they were about.

Believe me I know when you are ill or feeling sick how difficult it can seem to see life another way.  I was TOLD to EXPECT I would be in a wheelchair.  I was TOLD I would get worse and I FELT it EVERY DAY almost EVERY SECOND of EVERY DAY for over 6 years.  I have never felt so alone in my life even though I had friends, family and my husband and children around me.  I felt “no one could know what it felt like to be this sick and in this much pain”.

In shifting my attention from the finality of my illnesses to questioning them and looking for answers I received guidance.

One of the best books I have EVER read about getting in touch with “the world within” is Charles Haanel’s “The Master Key System“. It is a 24 part series broken down into weekly (give or take some lessons will take you longer some shorter) sections.  I also love listening to the audio version and find that might be easier for some to grasp that way (it was for me) ;-) .  This was written in 1917 and yet is still so relevant and important.  This book has been called the key reading to The Law of Attraction and is also the book that inspired Bill Gates to leave Harvard and begin Microsoft.  I wish this had been required reading in school and cannot even imagine the world we would live in today if it had.  We are all so phenomenally powerful and when you start to tap into your inner guidance system you do realize the only limits we encounter are in our own minds.

Guidance is available to all of us.  We have this inner voice inside that KNOWS what is best for us.  We have our connection to each other and the Universe as a whole that can guide us.  We do not need to feel alone or helpless. Whether it is through spirituality and/or religion or your intuition there are ways to tap into this guidance system that is available to all of us.  Please take some time to quiet yourself and try to recognize where in your life you can put a stop to your automatic pilot.  Begin to ask yourself questions about how to heal parts of your life and even for simple things as the shortest grocery line.  LEARN the difference between the automatic answers and those that come from deep within.  Our inner guidance system is all knowing – it cannot steer you wrong.

Please check out some of the resources I have listed — all are wonderful people and very talented writers.  Also let me know what guides you?  Do you listen to that little voice inside?  When do you find yourself on automatic pilot?  Do you have any exercises that helped you get in better touch with your own inner guidance system?

I also want to give a special thanks to the photographer I have used for the last two posts.  Bruce is brilliant and his photos definitely speak to me.  I am very honored he has let me use them with his permission and recommend you check out his photos. Thank you Bruce! :-)

Distance Healing

Author: Jenny Mannion  |  Category: consciousness, healing, health care

birdsformationHow does distance healing across the world work?  How is it scientifically possible for someone to affect someone else’s physical well being so far away from them?  Are there different kinds of distance healing?  These were questions that presented themselves to me as a Reconnective Healing Practitioner as I saw miracles occurring through my own distance healing practice and felt determined to know HOW. The basics of WHY distance healing works scientifically is: 1) We are electrical and magnetic beings made of energy and emitting light. 2) By tuning into our most important organ (the heart) we can access the source of this information and use that to send information out as well. 3) We are all (every living thing) connected.  I will expand on the science behind all of these statements and tell you about my amazing experience with distance healing.

Somewhere it was decided that it was better to think of ourselves as separate instead of celebrating and utilizing our connection to each other and the Universe. I am all for personal accountability. I also feel we all have individual gifts to offer this world. BUT there are also ways we can join together to help each other and make this world a much easier place to live in.  Just as birds flying in formation will change course in an instant without words exchanged, meetings called, maps brought out and debates and arguments — we too can tap into this guidance and information system.  The birds do not have people telling them they are not connected, nor do they have cell phones, TV and the many other distractions that keep us plugged into the outside world but not plugged into our innermost being and true self.  By quieting our minds, going inwards and listening to our heart (or intuition) we too can have access to unlimited information and guidance.  I love technology but also know how important it is for us to awaken to our full potential and to do that we need not look further than deeply inside ourselves.  After we tap into that power we can use it to help not only our own lives but to help many other people as well. There are many wonderful “miracles” occurring daily and you too can help those occur without even leaving your house! ;-)

The Science Behind Distance Healing

1) We are Electrical and Magnetic beings made of Energy and Emitting light.

I am going to begin with a few basic definitions that are now important to understand to really wrap your head around distance healing and Energy and Information Medicine.  These will explain how we are MUCH more than the mechanical beings we have come to think of ourselves as.

Bio Photon – We Are Always Emitting Light

Thanks to scientist Dr. Fritz Albert Popp and his studies we now KNOW ALL living things are always emitting light.  In The Living Matrix Dr. Popp says that to begin his study he needed a photon detector so sensitive it would sense a candle 12 miles away.  When living things are put in front of this photon detector it was proven that ALL LIVING THINGS (Yes, plants included) are emitting light at all times.  These bio-photons are carriers of information and are interacting with our Morphogenetic (body) field to exchange information.

Chi/Life Energy

From Cyndi Dale’s Book, “The Subtle Body: An Encyclopedia of our Subtle Anatomy“:

Chi has many translations, as nearly every culture has its own version, but in general, it is vital energy of the universe. Chi is the pure and free-flowing energy that activates and nurtures life and connects the small and the great“.

Western medicine chose to concentrate on the mechanics of the body which of course are important too.  BUT the big thing missing is we are made of energy.  Many other cultures BASE their medicine on energy.  Whether it is called chi, prana, mana, ki, or the many other names — the importance is that THEY ALL RECOGNIZED the importance of naming this very important part of us — our essence and what regulates our body.

Morphogenetic Field (The Body Field)

There are fields of energy around our body that regulate what our cells are doing.  We have been in the dark for years about how a baby develops from a single cell to the complex system of cells, systems, organs and processes that run our body.  The Body Field around our body is responsible for that.  There are fields around our tissues, fields around our organs and fields around our body.  The body is constantly accessing information from that field and is being modulated by that field.  This field is what helps us maintain our basic appearance even though we are always recreating ourselves and the body is almost 100% new in 11 months. It also is what tells our body to keep a 98.6 degree body temperature and much much more.

Combining these definitions leads to the next point and is a WONDERFUL quote from The Living Matrix:

The body field is an energetic field filled with patterns of information. All of the organs in our bodies generate their own specific fields. One organ in particular seems to generate significant fields which affect the entire body. The heart is the EMPEROR…

These studies of energy and light are not saying conventional medicine is WRONG it is just taking science a step further.  It is time for a more integrative way of looking at the body and when we start to understand that our body is much more than flesh and bones — unlimited possibilities open up. The heart is indeed the Emperor and in tuning into our intuition and heart and quieting our mind we have access to unlimited information.

2) By tuning into our most important organ (the heart) we can access the source of this information and use that to send information out as well.

This made so much sense to me when I heard it and it correlates with the short exercise I talked about in my post “What DO You Believe?” done by Shaman Lench.

The Heart and Coherence

From Cyndi Dale’s Book, “The Subtle Body: An Encyclopedia of our Subtle Anatomy“:

The heart is the physical center of the circulatory system, managing over 75 trillion cells.  It is also the electromagnetic center of the body, emanating thousands of times more electricity and magnetism than does the brain.  Even more impressively, it is an organ of communication that can potentially manage the body’s intuition processes

Wow, I could write a post on that definition alone but I will stick with the MOST relevant information from there….  The HEART not the brain receives information first (it being where our intuition comes from).  It also is the part of our body that is in communication with the biophotons and is always receiving and regulating information to our body field. (There is a FASCINATING Study in The Living Matrix that proves the heart is where information originates).

The heart has coherent rhythms and incoherent rhythms that are in correlation WITH our emotions.  When you are around someone who is very calm and relaxed and it seems it is emanating from them — that person has a coherent heart rhythm and you can feel it just by being around them. I bet you can also tell when your own heart is in coherent rhythm and when it is not.

Dr. Deborah Rozman’s quote from The Living Matrix brings up a very important point, “Dr. Deborah Rozman states:

When the heart’s rhythmic beating pattern is smooth and ordered it is called a coherent rhythm. That coherent rhythm entrains or synchronizes the brain rhythm, the nervous system, the bodies organs and glands all dance in harmony to that heart coherent rhythm.”

From Cyndi Dale’s Book, “The Subtle Body: An Encyclopedia of our Subtle Anatomy“:

This coherency is at least partially within our control.  Studies have shown that holding positive thoughts in our heart creates coherency between electromagnetic and biophoton emissions, which then changes the DNA so that our bodies are healthier. In other words, DNA can at least partly be controlled by our thoughts.”

This is what Dr. Bruce Lipton talks about when he talks about Epigenetics.

Epigenetics

I have referred to Dr. Lipton in several posts and his work with Epigenetics.  Basically it means CONTROL IS ABOVE THE GENES.  Meaning as Dr. Lipton states in the movie, “What If?“, “the genes are our blueprint but WE are the contractor”. Please see my review of The Living Matrix for a study as an example.

I find these discoveries about our heart and Epigenetics so very important.  We can control our DNA with our emotions and thoughts.  We also now know our heart is the place where we gather information from outside us first.  When I do distance healings it indeed involves my heart and not my head.  When I set intentions those too come from my heart.  The more the brain or ego is involved the less effective I feel distance healings would be. I would also like to include the next definition since it is very important in Energy and Information medicine and clearly paints a picture of how energy flows through our body.

The Acupuncture/Meridian Lines

From Cyndi Dale’s Book, “The Subtle Body: An Encyclopedia of our Subtle Anatomy“:

“The meridians are energy pathways for chi, the true foundation of the traditional Chinese system. Chi is vital energy and anagolous to the prana, mana, maya, and is anagolous to the prana, mana, maya, and orgone of other systems, as well as the ki of the Japanese healing world.  It is also spelled “qi” in many traditional systems.  Chi is the force that animates and informs everything.”

Cyndi later cites Dr. William Tiller’s work which states:

The meridians, which lie in the connective tissue, are antennae for subtle energies.

Through reading Cyndi’s amazing book I also learned about Dr. Bjorn Nordenstrom’s extensive work with the meridian system. He proved that the meridians serve as receivers of energy signals from the outside world much like a radar system.  He was also able to shift the flow of energy through the meridians and circuit points so that diseases such as cancer and certain autoimmune diseases were cured.

In The Living Matrix:

Peter Fraser explains,“In the 1980’s it was discovered that the acupuncture system is an organized meridian system.  Cells want to organize in a certain order and want to communicate in certain directions.  The order makes it an information system.

Dietmar Cimbal later states, “We have over 70 Trillion cells in our body.  These information fields ensure the coordination of cells so that each cell knows what to do and knows what the other cells are doing”.

Lynne McTaggart explains that “dis-ease is scrambled information.”

Information Medicine unscrambles this information so that we can be optimally well.I am so grateful for The Living Matrix for bringing so much of this information to the public.

I felt the meridians were important to include since MANY other countries use this as the basis of medicine and we are seeing it become more utilized in the Western world.  It also allows us to visualize ourselves as more energetic beings.  Many “alternative therapies” are based on the meridian system.  From Acupuncture to EFT — it is known that the meridian system is now valid and many of the new information and energy modalities are also making use of it.

3) We are all Connected

Just like the birds mentioned above, we too are all connected.  Have you ever thought of someone and the phone rang and it was them?  Have you ever had a feeling something GOOD or BAD was happening with a loved one far away and KNEW you should contact them? There are so many ways this presents itself in our lives and I think most of us have had similar experiences where we KNEW we were much more than just our skin and bones. :-) .

When we begin to see ourselves as more than our body and to study ourselves as electrical, magnetic and energetic beings it is a lot easier to imagine how we can connect.  Our energy fields extend far from our body. Our heart can receive information from much further away than 5 feet from us – how else can you explain thinking of someone and the phone ringing? Lynne McTaggart began The Intention Experiment which joins thousands of people world-wide via the internet to set the same intention at the same time.  One person or place is pre-chosen, everyone sets the same intention and the results have been amazing.  If we look at this scientifically knowing what we know now about our make-up it just MAKES SENSE it would work.  If we have more energy and electrical power going towards that one intention it is reasonable to assume it would be much more POWERFUL.

One on one distance healing works the same way.  We CAN connect with others and I feel it comes from the heart and combines with whatever modalities/energy/Information frequencies we have as well.  I feel the power of intention makes it possible for all of us to be distance healers and with healing energies such as Reiki or Reconnective Healing we are taking it to the next level. In the movie The Living Matrix, former astronaut Edgar Mitchell talks about how his pancreatic cancer was healed by distance healings done by the famous healer Adam Dreamhealer. Adam has his own techniques for distance healing and has a wonderful testimonials page. Adam also has a place for group intentions. There are so many different modalities and like I say with all healing — I think resonating with the modality is what makes it appropriate for you.

Summary of the Science and HOW it Relates to Distance Healing

1) We are more than just the bones and flesh that house us. Energy and our electrical system is what modulates information. We are electro-magnetic beings.  Our bio-photons, heart, meridians and body field are communicating — sending and receiving information at all times.

2) Our thoughts affect our energy and the information being sent out.  When we are thinking negative thoughts or have not processed a negative experience correctly negative imprints get put onto our body fields and only disturbed or scrambled information can get through.

3) When energy flow is shifted dis-ease can heal.  When imprints on our energy fields are removed energy can flow better and heal scrambled information.  This perspective on healing enables us to see that there are many more healing possibilities and modalities when we acknowledge our body is electrical and magnetic.

4) If our emotions affect our field and the energy and information we are sending out — doesn’t it make sense that if we hold a positive thought in our mind and send that intention out to someone that it would affect them too? In my post “We Are All Healers” I talk about the importance of when someone near and dear to you is sick (or you yourself are sick) to send out positive energy — think of them healthy, try not and WORRY or talk about “how sick they/you are and how bad it all is”.  THAT sends out negative energy.

5) Energy and Information healing unscrambles the imprints on the field. This healing also transmits positive energy and information.

6) We are all connected as one.  Distance healing works with the information fields that are omni-present.  Therefore, it really does not matter if I am next to you when we have a session or as far away as Australia (my furthest and some of the most powerful, so far).

7) With Lynne McTaggart and The Intention Experiment — doesn’t it makes sense that if there are MANY people sending out that SAME SPECIFIC INTENTION that more energy going to that one spot will help the situation/person even more?

I hope this all makes sense  to you. Distance healing works because we are all connected ANYWAY.  We are not taught as children how to keep a thought or an intention but this is so very IMPORTANT.  The thoughts we think and our corresponding emotions are contributing to what kind of information we are sending out.  Since beginning Reconnective Healing I am very aware of what certain emotions DO to My Body and if I find myself in a funk I certainly do NOT want to stay there any longer than I have to.  I choose to process the emotions, learn from the experience and MOVE onto being in coherence once again.

When I was sick for years I told myself repeatedly as doctors and tests proved that I was so sick and I felt the sadness, guilt, worry and helplessness that can go along with chronic illness and disease.  I don’t think there were many stretches of time in those 6 years where I was in coherence so I was not allowing my body to heal.

Why different modalities such as Reiki or The Reconnection?  If you a frequent reader of my blog you KNOW I am a HUGE believer in different modalities for everyone.  These different modalities send different information and energy frequencies.  I am someone who didn’t have the slightest idea WHAT energy even felt like until I took my training to become a Reconnective Healing Practitioner.  The energy used in Reconnective Healing is far from subtle and is tangible.  I am a big believer is picking a modality that resonates with you.  I have heard of many success stories with different modalities and there are even plenty of successes with NO MODALITY and just setting intentions and sending that energy to a person.  If you want to participate in distance healing but are hesitant or want to see proof — please read my post on The Intention Experiment and see if that resonates with you. I hope I have made SOME of the basics of the science behind Distance Healing clear and I will welcome questions and do my best to answer.

My Experience with Distance Healing

After seeing the movie The Living Matrix I was grateful, amazed, humbled and inspired to write my review. I finally had a way to explain Reconnective Healing that resonated with me and was scientifically backed up.  Since then I have given over 50 distance healings with amazing results. Emotional issues of over 40 years cured, chronic pain and disease gone, people connecting with their intuition and inner guidance systems, MANY physical problems solved and so much more….  I am one of OVER 60,000 Reconnective Healers and there are SO many other modalities out there.

In my experience there is absolutely NO difference between an in person session or a distance healing.  With Reconnective healing there are many strong sensations the client (and I) receive and they are the same regardless.  This has been proven to me time and time again and I am still amazed and grateful each and every time.  I also work with medical intuition which is also another reminder to me how we are connected.  When I work on a client long distance I can feel where their pain/problems lie in my own body.  Medical Intuition is a whole other post as well but it is another affirmation to me that time and space do not matter in relation to healing.

I am working on my testimonials page this summer (I have MANY to add) :-) but feel free to take a peak there for a couple of experiences or read about my friend Paula Kawal’s experience here.  Very shortly, my friend Suzie Cheel will be posting our interview.  Suzie was also a long distance client of mine (one of three from Australia) and in the interview she speaks of our sessions.  I LOVE this work and I believe in it with my whole heart because I have seen it work repeatedly and love not only how it affects my clients but how it makes me feel.  During and after distance healings (and in person sessions) I feel love, calmness, gratitude and a connection to the Universe and the person I am working with.

Distance healing does work and I hope I have made how and why it does work a little more understandable.  I welcome questions, comments, etc. and would love if anyone wanted to share their own distance healing experiences.

Help Heal the World — Join Lynne McTaggart and The Intention Experiment

Author: Jenny Mannion  |  Category: Inspirational, consciousness, healing, health care

If you watch or listen to the media it is easy to feel dis-empowered but there are also WONDERFUL and inspiring things going on every day and people working to make this world a MUCH better place. There are ways now that every single person can help this planet and its inhabitants and nature heal and move in the right direction. I have many clients who after they heal physically feel very motivated to help others but have no idea where to begin. I feel we all have Divine individual gifts to offer the world and there are also many ways to be involved as a community. Now with the internet you need not even leave your house to make a huge difference. I would like to introduce an amazing way to help and urge you to check it out and join if it resonates with you. The Intention Experiment run by Lynne McTaggart, her husband Bryan Hubbard and several prominent scientists is a world wide effort to heal different individuals and parts of the world. It already has thousands of members and anyone can join and participate for free. Lynne McTaggart was in the wonderful movie (my readers are now very familiar with) “The Living Matrix” and is the author of a couple of life altering best selling books. It is my great pleasure to tell you a little about Lynne McTaggart and about about The Intention Experiment.

lynnemctaggartLynne McTaggart

Lynne McTaggart has been researching medicine and quantum physics for the last 20 years. She is the author of 2 bestselling books “The Field” and “The Intention Experiment” and also the book, blog and monthly newsletter “What Doctors Don’t Tell You“. Lynne was recently in the movie “The Living Matrix” and is a leader in science joining spirituality and health. Lynne has been running The Intention Experiment for over a year now with amazing results.

Here is Lynne McTaggart in a One Minute Shift video speaking about Intention:

The Intention Experiment

From the site: “THE INTENTION EXPERIMENT is a series of web-based experiments with Lynne McTaggart, author of The Intention Experiment, her husband Bryan Hubbard plus leading scientists and thousands of readers around the world, to test the power of our thoughts to change – and heal – the world. It is open to anyone to participate as long as you register.”

“Lynne McTaggart, architect of the experiments, is working with leading physicists and psychologists from the University of Arizona, Princeton University, the International Institute of Biophysics, Cambridge University and the Institute of Noetic Sciences. These experiments are being run at McTaggart’s seminars and conferences and on the web, and have produced extraordinary results.

This is not about sending intentions to make a million dollars. The targets are only philanthropic: healing wounds, helping children with attention deficit or patients with Alzheimer’s, counteracting pollution and global warming. Besides the big Intention Experiments, this web site runs informal Intention of the Week for people or situations with illnesses or problems.

There are weekly intentions and larger monthly intentions set and a time for every person to set that intention together to heal. You can send in people or situations that need healing for consideration.”

I couldn’t summarize it any better than the site does! I listened to a wonderful interview with Lynne McTaggart (May 14, 2009) about The Living Matrix and The Intention Experiment on Everything is Energy radio with David and Kristin Morelli. If you haven’t visited their site “Everything is Energy” yet I highly recommend it. They have MANY inspiring interviews and recordings.

The Intention Experiment has been experiencing WONDERFUL results. Helping people, places and proving how powerful we all are. I am constantly being awed by the distance healing work I do through Reconnective Healing and know and experience personally there is no limitation in time and space for healing. I work with one client at a time and The Intention Experiment is with THOUSANDS of people holding the same intention at the same time – it is VERY POWERFUL. With movies like The Living Matrix and people like Lynne McTaggart thrusting us forward with concrete evidence — the science of healing is changing rapidly. This is a wonderful way to be involved and see the results quickly. The Intention Experiment also has a Ning Community Network which you can sign up for here. In the community you can pose questions, interact with others, add friends, participate in smaller group healings, join groups and more. There is also a place to submit suggestions for candidates for healing in the Intention Experiment and also on a smaller scale in the Intention Experiment Community.

Like I said a few months ago “We are ALL Healers“. As the movie “The Living Matrix” clearly proves “We are ALL connected”. We have powers within us we are JUST beginning to scratch the surface of. These abilities can help us, others and the planet. Setting an intention is a POWERFUL way of doing just that. Lynne in her book “The Intention Experiment” tells you the best ways to set an intention for maximum results. Learning how to purposefully set an intention can not only help in the wonderful experiments Lynne sets up but in your daily life as well.

Lynne McTaggart is indeed a visionary and humanitarian and she has set in motion the biggest mind over matter experiment this world has ever seen. The results have been amazing and have proven continuously just how important and powerful our intentions are. This is no “airy fairy woo woo” stuff. These are scientific experiments being held weekly and they are changing lives and changing our world as we know it. Please take the time to watch the above video and to visit The Intention Experiment site. You don’t have to participate in each and every experiment but by signing up you are ready to participate and network with an incredible group of people working together to help heal the world one intention at a time. I encourage you to join and see the good that is going on in this world instead of listening/reacting to media and the world they portray. We are all indeed healers and I cannot thank Lynn McTaggart enough for beginning this inspiring work! Please add me as a friend if you join The Intention Experiment Community. Of course comments are ALWAYS welcome and enjoyed! :-) What do YOU think about the Power of Intention? Do you feel inspired to join The Intention Experiment?

When Everything Changes – Change Everything by Neale Donald Walsch (A book review)

Author: Jenny Mannion  |  Category: consciousness, healing, law of attraction, personal development

when-everything-changes2Do you look at change as bad? Are you stuck in place because you cannot even digest a change that is happening to you? Has a change profoundly affected your life? Are you going through a change right now that can use some light shed on? Do you consistently fear change? Well, life is always changing. WE are always evolving, cells renewing, moving forward even if it does not feel like it. Neale Donald Walsch’s book “When Everything Changes – Change Everything” can help you get through the changes of life gracefully but it is so much more than that. This book has changed the way I look at all change and even the way I look at life. This book can awaken the unconscious and put anyone on the path to knowing their inner self on a fast escalator inward. I have spent the last few days digesting this book. Me, who thought I had a firm grasp on change, on consciousness, on life. I not only recommend Neale Donald Walsch’s book, “When Everything Changes – Change Everything (In a Time of Turmoil, a Pathway to Peace)” to people going through a noticeable life change but to everyone. Not only does Mr. Walsch have this incredible new book but he is also changing the way books are read which I will highlight as well. It is my pleasure to present a brief insight into Neale’s latest book and to encourage people to read it.

When Everything Changes — Change Everything

(In a Time of Turmoil, a Pathway to Peace)

I have been receiving Neale Donald Walsch’s “What God Wants You to Know Daily emails” for over a year. I also loved when Evelyn Lim of “Attraction Mind Map” wrote about him for the Heroes of Healing Group Writing Project here. I really cannot say how many times the words from Neale’s daily emails seemed perfect for the day ahead but I will say it was OFTEN. I read his emails in the morning before work, often breathe in the truth of the statement and am much more ready to begin my day. When I received an email telling me about Neale Donald Walsch’s new book, I thought, “I know about change — I am going through only positive changes right now — this book wouldn’t apply to me”, but then a little voice inside said, “get it — this is an important book” and thankfully I am getting better at listening to that voice!

Neale Donald Walsch’s book is aligned with my own vision of life these days. I see life as a collage of mind, body and spirit with our soul holding the deepest messages patiently waiting for us to ask so we can remember why we are here in the first place and which direction to go in. He puts it perfectly here in his introduction:

“By mastering both aspects of our being we remember not only how to think, but what to think. What I’m clear about now is that the mind is a tool, a mechanism, and the soul provides the fuel for that machine. The less fuel you use, the more inefficiently the engine will operate. On the other hand, if your soul fills your mind with spiritual energy, you will be Mind-Full — and the workings of this engine can produce miracles.” — Neale Donald Walsch

I KNEW when I read this in his Author’s Note I was in for a treat, a further awakening to my soul and BOY did I get it. After each chapter is a poem written by Neale’s wife, Em Claire and WOW are her words perfect for your journey through this book. Neale writes about his Nine Changes that Can Change Everything and they sure do. Neale takes you through each change and it feels like he is holding your hand through each one. There are times when he KNOWS he has said something that you will need to digest and he puts breaks in called “Breathing Space” for you to soak it in.

Neale’s Nine Changes That Can Change Everything are:

1.) Change your decision to “go it alone”

2.) Change your choice of emotions

3.) Change your choice of thoughts

4.) Change your idea of truths

5.) Change your idea about Change itself

6.) Change your idea about why Change occurs

7.) Change your idea about future Change

8.) Change your idea about life

9.) Change your identity

Mr. Walsch takes you through each one of these with ease although boy will your ego rise up during some of these chapters. Mine did and I will admit inner turmoil at times as realizations hit me and I felt myself growing. His ideas make sense and he does not speak as a guru but as a man who has known loss of health, homelessness and someone who had to do a whole lot of looking within himself.

There are so many profound statements, observations and even charts and equations offered in here that JUST MADE SENSE. Even through the tears I read on because for me, tears while reading a book like this — means I am indeed hitting on something that is a remembering, my ego is struggling with it and it WILL cause growth. Mr. Walsch divides the book into 2 Parts: Part One: The Mechanics of the Mind which he talks about changes 1-4 and Part Two: The System of the Soul where he describes changes 5-9.

Neale Donald Walsch also breaks down Truth and Reality into three parts each which really rang true for me. There is the Imagined Truth, the Apparent Truth and the Actual Truth and Neale shows you the importance of differentiating and how to live in Actual Truth. There is Distorted Reality, Observed Reality and Ultimate Reality and Neale can help you move through these.

Perhaps one of my favorite parts is when Neale talks about the different types of meditation techniques you can use…. and most are not sitting cross legged chanting. :-) I gained some new ways to meditate and I feel many people would resonate with his methods.

As I mentioned Em Claire., Neale’s wife writes a poem at the end of each chapter. I will include one here just to show you what a treat they are. This one resonated deeply with me:

“Long at Sea” by Em Clair (2007)

I left The Home so long ago now

that I would not recognize my own face.

I constructed the Boat of My Life

and I set out

into the open sea

waving at all who knew

that the seas would give me

everything I could handle

and everything I could not

and yet they waved, and I set out

into the open sea

in the Boat of My Life:

built from the Soul, crafted by Heart

and with great innocence I pushed off

into the open sea

and have been away from my Home

so long now that I would not recognize my own face

but I know that Home –

Home

remembers me

—- Em Claire

When Everything Changes is an Interactive Experience

Aside from Neale’s writing which honestly feels like a conversation with a friend gently guiding you — there are also other ways which he has made this an interactive experience. Neale Donald Walsch has set up an online community for his readers to ask questions and support each other called The Changing Change Network (which goes live shortly). The Changing Change Network will feature:

1.) A place for your Questions and Answers

2.) A Personal Interactive Desk to keep track of online study or write in your online journal

3.) A Message Board

4.) Video and audio clips from Neale

5.) A Resource section on people and organizations that can help you with change.

6.) Articles

7.) Schedule of workshops and the ability to attend them at a discount as a member of the network.

8.) Network support center and FAQ

9.) A place for readers to write in how they survived a big change in their own life.

All of the above resources are amazingly free or you could go to Neale’s site and choose to order the Changing Change Workbook and Study Guide or to enroll in Neale’s eighteen week online course which includes the workbook and many other exercises and guidance. There is also a way to help people who need a scholarship for this program. This book is much more than a book. This book offers a new powerful way to change your life and the way you look at it forever and to get support and help with a community while doing it. I cannot recommend this book enough and know it will be one I refer to my own clients for a while to come. Yep, ALL of my clients reading this – go ahead and pick it up — I will be telling you to anyway! ;-)

Remember change is ALWAYS occurring. Imagine the ease felt if when each life change was met, even a “seemingly horrific change” it could be faced KNOWING it was for the best. Imagine the confidence that would come with KNOWING your life and all change is bringing you closer to your Divine path. Imagine understanding that even FEAR is an emotion that comes out of love and what power that would bring. Picture having the tools of different ways to meditate so that you can achieve peace and a connection within. Neale Donald Walsch can teach you all of this and more in this book “When Everything Changes — Change Everything“. I cannot think of a more timely subject and I need to thank Neale and Em for their beautiful words. I CHANGED this weekend, grew where I did not even know I needed growth, changed deeply inside my perspective on ALL change and I thank Neale and Em Claire for being a catalyst for these changes.

I will end with another inspiring quote from Neale Donald Walsch. Please leave comments and let me know how you view change.

Change is an announcement of Life’s intention to go on.

Change is the fundamental impulse of life itself.

– Neale Donald Walsch
