Art — Spiritual and Healing

Posted by Jenny Mannion On October - 31 - 2008

Art is spiritual and healing in a multitude of ways. You need not be a professional artist to benefit from expressing yourself through art. You do not need to be an art connoisseur to be moved to tears of joy from the beauty of a painting or another art form.

Art is an expression that comes from within and brings to life a vision the artist has had in their conscious or subconscious.

I was always drawn to artists growing up . I made some friends by blatantly staring in awe at their DOODLES in school. Growing up in NYC ensured I went to plenty of museums and galleries. Wow have I seen some beautiful creations. Art is everywhere in so many forms and I would like to share with you some of the healing and spiritual…

Gratitude, Gratitude and MORE Gratitude

Posted by Jenny Mannion On October - 23 - 2008

There are a few blogs that do “weekly gratitude lists” and I am thinking I will definitely have to start one! One of the unforeseen perks of blogging was just HOW many wonderful people I would meet and how we would all help each other. When I looked back at the last month and saw just HOW much goodness was given to me I could not help but KNOW I would write a gratitude post! I am so fortunate to have so many people that have reached out to me in my personal life and in the past 16 months in my blogging life. Thank you to all the following people (in no particular order…..)!!!!!

Ray — my husband who designed my site and has dealt with tons of word press questions. Your patience and love is so greatly appreciated…

Practicing Balance in Your Life

Posted by Jenny Mannion On October - 21 - 2008

This post is part of the “Life Balance Group Writing Project” created by Stacey Hoffer Weckstein of CreateaBalance.com

I have to admit this one made me THINK REAL hard. Me, a recovering perfectionist, mom of 2 kids ages 9 and 5, blogger with 2 blogs and an active Group Writing Project, home owner, inventor actively working on my invention, friend, only child, wife, daughter…. hmm how DO I practice balance and what DOES Life Balance mean to me? Life Balance to me means KNOWING what is important to you in your life and making sure that when you do those things you are present and doing them consciously. If you do anything while your mind is somewhere else and keep coming back to “what isn’t being done” you will feel like you are juggling while on…

Blog Action Day — Take Action and Help Others Heal From Poverty

Posted by Jenny Mannion On October - 15 - 2008

Blog Action Day:

Take Action and Help Others Heal From Poverty

The Definition of Poverty is as follows:

“The state or condition of having little or no money, goods, or means of support; condition of being poor; indigence. Poverty implies a lack of necessities. Poverty denotes serious lack of the means for proper existence.”

I am sure MOST of us have felt poor at some moment(s) in our lives. I certainly remember calling myself a “poor college student” and eating Ramen noodles for days on end but I DID have those noodles to eat. Poverty is a deeper level of poor. Poverty means lacking what you NEED for proper existence. Clothes, food, shelter — even though I have spent times worrying about money I have NEVER had to worry about…

Seven Ways to Stay Positive and Happy During “Uncertain Times”

Posted by Jenny Mannion On October - 10 - 2008

Many people have been asking lately HOW they can possibly stay positive with the world seemingly struggling every day. I have come up with seven ways to do so. I encourage and invite my readers to pipe in with their own as well as submit comments on mine.

1) Limit your News (Watching/Reading/Listening)

Yes, we can recognize that these are very difficult times for many and that the world economy is uncertain. Watching 3 hours of news or checking the stock market every 2 hours will not change that. Talking about HOW BAD it all is and watching as the news makes everything seem broken will not help you feel good. “The News” makes it all worse and the more you watch and talk about how bad things are the worse you will feel. Yes, I believe you can be

Train for Humanity

Posted by Jenny Mannion On October - 4 - 2008

I have chosen to use Train For Humanity as the sole charity listed on my Heroes of Healing Group Writing Project. I will have no ads and KNOW that part of being all you can be is giving selflessly to others. All the Heroes on the list also believe(d) in giving to others and I am happy to share information with you about this wonderful charity project.

Train for Humanity is the result of three pilot project athlete-bloggers, Mark Hayward of My Tropical Escape, Dan Clements of Escape 101, and the famous Leo Babauta of Zen Habits. They are hoping to raise awareness for the current crisis in Darfur and funds for the organization Darfur Peace and Development. All three are training for endurance events of varying distances…
