Jenny, I understand what you mean. The idea of permitting your mind to wander to positive possibilities can be very constructive and inspiring for people. It requires mental discipline to learn not to allow your mind to wander to "what ifs" that are not encouraging and uplifting. Some people use this as a means to assume the worst. I know one person who asks, "what if the ocean is rough?" each time she considers taking a ferry short-cut to visit her family. She is not consciously wishing for rough seas, eaxctly, but she is not attracting calm conditions either. After she gets seasick, she says, "what if I get sick again?" That memory lingers. Rather than drive five hours, she can opt to drive two and a half hours and relax on a two hour boat. Yet, her mind sometimes shakes her up. I really appreciate the video clips you share about "what if." As people evolve to think so positively, the idea of "what if" is a truly wonderful thing. This girl I describe does not really read blogs, but I will refer her to yours.

Hi Lance,
I am so happy we have met as well! I love your posts as they always make me stop and think. No reply is too long for me! I've been known to leave quite long ones myself.

I do believe consciousness is the key to all of this and am also guilty of a lot of things you mentioned. I KNOW I should exercise and meditate daily yet something will "come up" that takes me away from it. Those 2 things bring me more energy and the feeling of being centered than anything else yet I somehow let the noise of life get in the way and distract me.

I feel as long as we're moving forward it is just fine! I am getting pretty good at stopping myself when I here an "old recording" come up in my head. The funny thing is many of them I don't even believe any more but some habits are harder to break than others. Most people are not like Eckhart Tolle who arrived in full consciousness in an instant. Many it will take a jarring moment or something BIG happening in their lives for them to BEGIN to look at life totally differently (for me it was my illness). And for others it is a gentle pull almost back to something it feels like they have forgotten. I feel like this frequently as well... not that I am LEARNING this stuff about the mind/body connection but rather "remembering".

The most important thing I find is to stop and take notice of what interrupts my conscious moments and working from there.... Only we can quiet our minds and in that time and space are beautiful moments and HUGE revelations.

Always wonderful to hear from you Lance. I am glad my writing helps you examine what this means to you! :-)

Hi Cath,

That is wonderful about your PMT symptoms! I have not heard of the guy on the Silva site but since studying the mind/body connection the last 2 years -- I have heard of people curing themselves of everything from blindness, MANY cancers, MS, stroke after-effects and more. The hardest part is being willing to be open enough to CHANGE everything you were taught about healing growing up. In the movie "What If" they feature Brandon Bays who shrunk her "basketball" sized tumor down to NOTHING in 6 weeks! The mind is so much more powerful than we give it credit for and it mkes me so happy to see science finally catching up with this!

Thanks so much for your interest in the film, stopping by and I am so happy your PMT symptoms have gone! Whoo Hoo! 2009 is going to be the best, isn't it? :-)

Love, Jenny

Hi Jenny,
To the idea of living longer, and of living consciously - my thoughts on this: When I think about times long ago, and some of the great literary figures of long ago (Edgar Allen Poe comes to mind as one) - I really think some of these fine people really got the idea of living consciously. And, I believe it was because they were able to successfully remove much of the "noise" from their lives. And that was easier long ago, I think. Because there wasn't tv, or radio, or ipods, or xbox's, or cell phones, or computers, or ... Today we have access to so much more information, know what foods really are best for us, know about the importance of exercise, etc, etc. We know the things that CAN help us to live longer lives. And yet, at the same time we are bombarded by noise. Noise that tells us to eat another pop tart. Or noise that fills our brains, not allowing us to really and truly "think". And, if we can't "think" for ourselves, how can we live consciously?

Today, we have the tools we need. Information. Resources. And yet, the noise of life cause conscious living to take a back burner (at best).

I think that today, like no other time in history, do we have the ability to live longer and more productive lives. However, it DOES require conscious living (and in today's world, that is the hardest part of this equation, by far).

Jenny, I do think we can live longer! I do think we can live lives that are more consciously aware! And I also think that none of this is easy... I sit here, as I type this, with music on in the background (I'm not saying music is bad - just an example of "noise" - in fact I think music has very therapeutic effects). I tell myself I'm going to spend some time in the mornings, doing meditation - it happens about once every two weeks. Something else always fills in this planned quiet time - more of the noise of daily living. I've went on here long enough (sorry!) - in the end - I really do believe we can do much to improve both the quality of our lives, and the length of our lives. Yet, it's going to take work to do...

Jenny, thank you, once again, for really making me "dig deep" and examine what this all means for me in my daily life... You are a true blessing in my life...
