It is my honor to bring you Part II of my interview with James Sinclair, Director of the life changing movie, “What If?“. If you have not read part one, please check it out here. It was enlightening to speak with James. It is easy to see how inspirational he is and how he used his vision to create this life changing movie which is the first in a trilogy as he reveals below.
Interview Part II
Jenny: Wow, that is great. Brandon Bays from your movie is an amazing example of that. She took it as an opportunity and healed herself of a basketball sized tumor in record time. I think your movie is so important for pointing out those stories we don’t hear every day.
James: The stories are very important. One reason why we talked about Roger Bannister and the four minute mile is doctors said it was a physical impossibility at that time. Everybody was trying to run the mile in less than four minutes and medical science said it was a physical impossibility for a human and it would never be done. He did it. It took a while for someone to do it after that but then it became much more common. Near the end of the film we talk about sun-gazing and not needing to eat. I think that is exactly what can happen as we all begin to wake up and realize these things are possible.
Air travel was highly ridiculed and laughed at. Even when one side of the country was doing it and writing about it in journals — the other side of the country was saying it was a hoax and a lie and far fetched and unreal. I think that is how most of us respond to all new concepts. I like what Dr. Joe Dispenza says, he says that he thinks everyone believes secretly in their own divinity. So I believe when people see a movie like this or something inspiring or unlimiting it activates what you already know inside although the mind may resist it initially. Inevitably they begin to think “This is possible, I am more than what I think I am and much more is possible for my life”.
Jenny: I agree. A lot of my studies have felt more like a remembering rather than learning. They activate things that were already there but you have forgotten because you have programmed so many messages over them. I think your movie does a great job of showing the possibilities.
There are limits in the Western world and we have forgotten some of the basics. We don’t even have a word for life energy or “chi” – we don’t even acknowledge it here. For me, I began looking for people I could study to learn more about the mind/body connection. What do you recommend for people interested in this – is there a way to approach your doctor to say you want to be looked at more naturally?
James: I think it is changing. Even in hospitals in Canada — in Toronto now they have been incorporating the practice of Reiki for quite a few years. It is beginning to change. We have been overwhelmed by the amount of people who have watched the film and have taken the time to write in or call in testimonies of what the movie meant to them. My favorites are when people say “watching the movie inspired me to change”. They say “I KNOW who I really am – I KNOW that there is something blocking it, I KNOW I am not living to my full potential”. That’s exciting to me. We had a physician out of Vancouver who said he resonated with the physicians in the movie and it is influencing his practice. It can give people permission to say ‘Yes, this is what it is meant to be”.
We talk about doctors of the future in the film – Joe Dispenza does. I think that they will actually coach us on how to heal by empowering people and helping to remove the tape. Doctors and surgeons would feel like they were living to their fullest potential to really empower people. The world would change. I think it is a perfect time to have a film like this out.
If you look at this crisis that is happening worldwide, globally and especially in the United States and North America….I think what is happening actually is the old – is falling apart. Some of the old financial structures have to collapse to make room for the new. If you can take into consideration and you believe that your thoughts create your reality. Then you have to agree that the entire world was created collectively and it is a reflection of our thoughts and our reality. Most of us are still in the dark ages – but we are coming out of that. The darkness is the ego or the limited side. When you are coming from limitations and from fear and pain you have created a world like that. We have hospitals and negative news. As we change that — and we are all changing collectively – and it seems to be happening very quickly — can you imagine the world we are creating? The new doctors of the future will play a very important role.
Jenny: I can’t wait! It was interesting when I decided I was not taking any more pain pills and I was healing myself – my doctors switched. I went from a doctor that was always arguing and trying to convince me to be on more pills to one whose first question was, “Do you meditate?”. So even in my little town in upstate, NY I found a doctor that does know how powerful the mind is. Hopefully that will become more and more common.
James: I think because the change begins with us – we talk about that in the film — if we can really grasp that. There is a lot of hope in the United States with the election of Obama. A lot of people are anticipating change. My personal feeling on that is I think if he is going to be a great leader which I think he can be, it will be with the empowerment of others. If everybody just expects he will do it and he will create change – not much will happen. But if he can inspire people to create changes in themselves – just like you’re doing Jenny and you’ve done – then you become a catalyst to that and real changes can happen collectively.
Jenny: Thank you and I agree, I think he has great potential. I think because of his connection to the internet, his reaching out to people and his message in general inspires people to help others and actively asks people, “What are YOU doing to help others?”. I also feel your movie has come out at a perfect time.
One of the quotes I wanted to talk about is “wishing is not intention”. I found this is where many people get stuck when they start thinking about consciousness, manifesting and knowing they are in control of their lives. Many people when beginning to go down this road of study set goals, say affirmations but have trouble obtaining the believing state. Some can believe but even those who believe cling too much to results. I was wondering if you had advice on surrendering or allowing.
James: That is also one of my favorite quotes in the film and that is in there for a very important reason too. If you look at our core beliefs – for example — a lot of people want to make more money and really believe they can on some level of their conscious mind. They are writing those affirmations “I am rich, I am rich, I am rich”. But they are not getting the results. That is because there is a core belief that might be saying in that case, “I don’t deserve it “, “I am guilty”, or “I am bad”. When you have a core belief like “I am guilty” it demands punishment. If you are holding onto that — although it may be unconscious it might be so deep that it is controlling your life. That is the knowing-ness. When you’re talking about beliefs and wishful thinking that is what we’re really saying.
If you want to live without food or walk on water or whatever it is – that has to be that knowing-ness in every cell of your body – it has to be your reality. It is not hoping. When you are in that knowing-ness… that is the level of belief that we all have to be with when we are accepting our mastery into our lives at a greater level.
To answer your question on advice… Many people are writing affirmations. One great tool which is great to create is called “Affirmations with a Response Column”. You have a page with a line down the middle. You write the affirmation a few times on the left side of the page. “I am wealthy”, “I am wealthy” I am wealthy”. Then you allow the subconscious mind to respond and on the right side. It is amazing to see what comes up. You can write “I am wealthy” and then “I am not worthy” may come up. You allow the resistance to come up. Do that for a matter of days. Just by allowing it — the resistance can begin to dissipate right there. Often times you get really in touch with the unconscious core belief that is blocking you from manifesting what you want and then you can take action from there for what you want.
Jenny: That sounds like a great exercise…. thank you for sharing that. You have talked a little about the reaction to the movie. What is next for “What If?” How can we help spread the word and get this movie seen by many?
James: Well you are helping by doing this interview. As people have been ordering copies and watching online, we have quite a few blogs, websites and we are all over the internet and google. Now people will be sharing and talking about it and sharing their experiences. This is what I love — for us it is a non resistance film. Meaning if someone feels a conflict with the film — I don’t think anybody in our film wants to convince them or change their minds. A lot of people have no interest in living without food and I don’t believe it is necessary for enlightenment. I think it is a personal choice. When Enrique shares his history of not eating he even says, “it may not be a goal for everyone.” But he said for him it was to see if the energy used for digestion (which is a lot) went into something else – what would happen. It is an exploration. I don’t think there’s any resistance ever – it is about following what feels right to you.
For a lot of people the concept of immortality might not be interesting to them – that’s great. There is something more important for them to do at that time. It is not about jamming it down people’s throats. That is why I used the “What If?” title for the film. If this resonates with you on the inside – great, then share. That’s what we really want and we translate that into our marketing as well. We are following a similar path of the marketing like “The Secret” – word of mouth marketing. If people see it and want to share then do, if you want to speak out against the film – that’s fine too….
Jenny: I think this film can cause many people to shift and awaken and you have done such a great service in that. I feel it is so important that you are helping people by introducing them to concepts they might not have thought of before. I thank you for that. I am enjoying spreading the message of this film and think many others will as well. What is next for James Sinclair?
James: We have recently been offered a book deal.
Jenny: Congratulations!
James: Thank you. It is an interesting book it is different than what I originally envisioned. But that’s cool about the power of intention. I don’t know much about the book industry and we were very focused on the film and promotion. We thought the book would come and we did say “when it comes the right time to do a book we will be offered a deal”. It happened very quickly — within a few days of the film being released we were offered a book deal.
From the beginning “What If? The Movie” was a trilogy. “What If? The Movie — Awakening” is the first one which is now out. “What If The Movie – Becoming” is the second one – where we also spend time talking about different techniques and following people through processes that make changes, going through the ups and downs with them. “What If? The Movie, the third one is Being which is still unready. So I’ll be busy for a while.
Jenny: Wow – that’s so cool. That will be an amazing trilogy to watch. You have an amazing cast, will some of them be in the newer films?
James: Some of the same people from the first film Awakening will definitely be in the second film. People that we are following will probably be new to the second film.
We had an original cast list and it changed quite a bit as we started to put it together.
One of our earlier versions someone made reference to Dr. Bernie Siegel and we made contact for permissions to use his photos. He wanted to talk with me and when we did he said, “it is almost too bad that I couldn’t be in the film” and we were in post production and had finished the interviews. I said, “anything is possible” and he ended up being a great part of the film.
Jenny: I had known about Dr. Lipton and Brandon Bays but have gained many new teachers from your film. I thank you very much for that as well. I think there a lot of people in there that are very different so that people watching can come out saying “I want to find out more about THAT person”.
James: We support and believe very much in everyone in the film and their work. We hope their work grows as a result of the film and we want that information out there.
Jenny: Dr. Lipton is amazing. I just watched his “Biology of Perception” which is mind blowing. I think it is so valuable to have someone like him that knows molecular biology that knows cells and can explain that this is truth, new medicine and the way the world is going. Some people lump it into “this is new age spiritual nonsense”… but there are so many scientists that are going this way. People that are proving it for people that are holding onto their doubt.
James: That’s right. What’s interesting about Dr. Lipton is he entered science as a young man as a way to get away from spiritual people. He thought spiritual people were the biggest bunch of hypocrites, weren’t “walking their walk”, definitely not credible and didn’t have proof and thought their ways didn’t work for him. He didn’t want to be associated with them at all. He went into science because he wanted to really quantify some real Universal truths. It is so interesting to see how his life was shaped. He has a lot of credibility and evidence behind him. His journey is quite interesting.
Jenny: Wow that is so interesting. Thank you for sharing that. Is there anything else you would like to share with my readers?
James: Thank you so much for being open to the film. We are welcoming the testimonials coming in. I always say – no matter what – people love the truth and how to dissect truth. Everybody is right in their own way — if everyone listens to what truly feels right for them and their resonance and follows their path then THAT is the right path.
Jenny: I agree. As movies like yours come out I think it does a great service because there are so many teachers in there and so many important lessons. It will resonate with a wide variety of people. I thank you very much for that and for the gift you have given.
James: We have a tremendous group behind us from investors to production assistants. A tremendous group that really held the vision and brought this film together. I am very thankful for them.
Jenny: Thank you so much for your time James. It is greatly appreciated.

Wonderful Jenny – that’s very exciting there’s going to be more films!
It’s great to hear that people are already sending in testimonials, and there has been a book offer – I was wondering how the film was going. And thanks for the mention!

Hi Lisa,
It was such a pleasure to speak with James and ask him questions. (I always have a LOT of questions)! I agree — I am SO HAPPY to hear it is a trilogy! Can’t wait for the next installments.
THANK YOU Lisa!
Thank you for your generous comments on the interview and on my blog. I love the thought of empowering people to look deeper inside and awaken. I know my words might not resonate with everyone so I try to highlight different teachers. I feel everyone can become conscious — but it is a combination of it being the right time in their own journey as well as finding people that they resonate with to learn from. I know I can hear the same message 20 times but it is the way that 21st person says it that makes me go , “Ohhhhh, NOW I get it!”.
That resonance is key in KNOWING consciousness is attainable. There are exceptions — people like the incredible Mr. Tolle that awaken overnight — but I think for most it is a journey with some “set backs” along the way.
So happy to have you comment Lisa and for your support – thank you!
Love,
Jenny
Hey Robin,
You are welcome and I love that some of the film is so aligned with the message on your blog. If I could feel like this forever — I say — “let’s do it – bring immortality on!”.
I am excited there are more films coming as well and a book! The testimonials are wonderful as well….I know ‘The Secret” was the beginning of my awakening and I think this film will do the same for many.
Thanks Robin, for taking the time to comment and for your continued friendship!
Love,
Jenny
As usual, you have chosen a topic to uplift the spirits of yoru readers and inform them of ongoing initiatives worthy of their attention. Thanks for taking the time to expand on this.
Liara Coverts last blog post..5 Tips to root yourself in the moment
Hey, I enjoyed the interview!! I particularly like the idea of “Affirmations with a Response Column”. It’s almost like using tools such as EFT or The Sedona Method. Allowing our resistance to show up most certainly can help in the release of our negative hidden blocks.
I’m also excited about the collective shift that is happening around the world!! It’s great to be part of it!!

Hi Liara,
Yes, I believe there are so many wonderful initiatives going on now to raise consciousness and awareness. I feel “What If?” will resonate with many. James Sinclair has done an amazing job putting people and facts together to make a beautiful film. Thank you for your comments and kind words Liara — yes, I do love sharing inspiration with my readers!
Hi Evelyn,
I always get such inspiration and eye opening from your blog!
Your last post on 101 Negative Money Beliefs (and ways to clear them) is one MANY could benefit from reading right now.
You are DEFINITELY a part of the shift!
I am so happy you enjoyed the interview. The Affirmations with a Response Column is a GREAT tool. It might feel kind of icky bringing up that resistance but it is a crucial part in “letting it go”. James has so much knowledge to share – I could’ve asked him questions for hours.
Thanks for your comments Evelyn. xo
Hi Mike,
I think you would get a lot out of delving deeper into What If?. Something your readers would resonate with as well.

Hi Jenny,
What a wonderful continuation from Part 1! It’s great to hear the message of this film directly from the director.
The part about affirmations jumped out, for me. It did, because of the idea of the response column. And in this case, it relates to my writing. When I started out writing my blog – I was telling myself that I could be good at writing – yet I wasn’t believing it. And it was difficult for me, I remember, the first several times I say my site linked from another site. I realized that internally, I didn’t feel worthy of this. Sure, it felt good. Yet, it was also difficult. Why would someone else think what I wrote was worthy of a link? There was definitely a level of insecurity there. What I’ve found, is that over time, I have become more comfortable with this – though there are still days where the insecurity still comes through. And so seeing this idea of affirmation and response – this really resonates with me. Not in that it’s something I’ve consciously done. But in that it is something I should do. To help to get beyond some of these insecurities.
What If? I love that title! It speaks of so much possibility!!
Jenny, thank you for this gift – this interview series! You are touching so many lives in wonderful ways. You’re a light in my life…just through the words you share!

Hi Lance,
I am so happy you enjoyed the interview. James definitely has a lot of wisdom to share — through the movie and through the interview.
Ahh…your comments always leave me smiling!
Funny, I say the same about your words helping me! Tremendously this week in fact as I shared on your latest post.
Isn’t it funny ( or not ;-0) how hard we can be on ourselves and what resistance comes up? I feel you are a BRILLIANT writer! The community you have gathered on your blog is a testimony to that!
You are SO worthy!
The affirmation exercise is great for having those resistance statements bubble to the surface – can’t really confront them and change those recordings unless you are AWARE of them first. We all have them – I know I’m still workin’ through plenty!
Working on them means forward growth and that is NEVER a bad thing.
I am so grateful for your support Lance and your friendship. Thank you!

Hi CG,
Thank you for your sweet comment.
Yes, it is my passion! Gathering and spreading information to empower people.
I remember clearly the power I felt after seeing “The Secret” and experiencing that inner knowing-ness that James Sinclair talks about and KNOWING with every cell of my body I would heal myself. It excited me so much to see “What If?” and KNOW it will do the same for many others.
Pretty exciting time we’re living in, huh? I am grateful for it every day!
Thanks CG! I love your Celabrazine! You are doing the same by making others aware of all the inspiration around us at all times and reasons to celebrate life and awaken!

Hi Ashley,
I felt like clapping when he told me too!
Thank you for commenting and for reading both parts! I am so happy you enjoyed it.
Gratefully,
Jenny
This interview series has been fascinating. I still haven’t seen this movie and don’t know anyone in my offline world who has, but I’ll have to try and source it.
I like how James says, “Everybody is right in their own way — if everyone listens to what truly feels right for them and their resonance and follows their path then THAT is the right path.” I really believe this, and I think the hard part is quietening the chatter so you can hear your instincts about the right path. That’s something I’m still working on.
Kelly
Hi Kelly,
Ahh that chatter — it DOES get pretty loud, doesn’t it? It IS making the time to be quiet and listen and I know as a mom that seems impossible sometimes. We are on call 24/7. BUT even taking 10 minutes for ourselves can rejuvenate and make everything seem different. It is so important to listen first so you know which direction to go…
Thanks Kel, I really loved interviewing James and will be interviewing more people from the cast. Check out my latest post on Healing to see some of the other movies coming out soon… AMAZING and it is giving me so much hope to see all the inspiring and empowering films being made.
Lots of love,
Jenny
To recognize how grateful you feel for existence is itself a prompt to attune differently to your life experiences. In passing, you may sense nothing out of the ordinary. Your views of normal and ordinary points of reference are changing all the time. As your awareness shifts, you become more self-accepting, more understanding and more interconnected with everything and everyone. It is not only a case ofnoticing what you did not notice so strongly before. It is a shift of deliberate intention to view things as they are.
Liara Coverts last blog post..What is the point of astral?
Ahh Liara Gratitude was my very first healing tool and BOY did it work wonders quickly. In fact, it was seeing just what the mind could do when consciously pointed to gratitude that made me KNOW with other tools as well, I could completely heal myself. I still do pay gratitude several times a day in fact for all the wonderful gifts in my life, but I am working to be in that state of gratitude and NOW as close to 24/7 as possible!
Thank you. Always a pleasure to receive a comment from you.
Much love,
Jenny
