Hi Clint,

I am someone that definitely needs quiet for my sanity. :-) I totally believe in being away from all noise and distractions and try and do that outside as well as inside. It is in those moments where my guidance kicks in and everything flows a whole lot easier.

Thanks for the comment Clint. :-)

Love,
Jenny

Great exercises. I would add that sometimes one should go to a place where they can focus on these exercises without any distractions. Sitting by a lake or in a study room at the library works for me. I won't be bothered by barking dogs or telephones.

Thanks Ceci!

I think your idea is a WONDERFUL one! I agree that helping others brings MUCH joy and gratitude.

Yes, gratitude saved me from chronic pain as well. It continues to save me from emotional turmoil as a place to shift my attention to when my ego-ic mind takes over. :-)

It's a pleasure to have you here. Thank you so much for taking the time to comment.

Love,
Jenny

Thanks for these lovely suggestions! Keeping a gratitude list -- both on paper and in my head -- saved me from self-pity many times during my two long bouts with chronic pain.

One item I would add to your excellent list: Write about 3 ways you'd most like to offer loving service. Could be helping a friend or family member in need, volunteering with a community service organization, or your own idea (neighborhood fund for Haiti Relief, food drive, blood drive). Selfless service brings lasting joy.

Hi Ryhen,
Welcome! I am a huge fan of gratitude and yes, I too believe everything happens for a reason and we can learn from each experience. The ego might argue that point with us as the "painbody" surfaces and the attachments we have temporarily prevent us from seeing "what good could possibly come of this" but I have seen time and time again - there is ALWAYS a lesson. Thanks so much for coming by and taking the time to comment. It is deeply appreciated. I will definitely be checking out your blog. :-) Wishing you a very happy new year!
Gratefully,
Jenny
