So I don’t think forgetting your blog’s anniversary (August 1) is nearly the same as forgetting your wedding anniversary but I still felt badly about it! Is “forget” the correct word? I have been so caught up with life and living it this summer that it just did not fully make it to my consciousness – ok, so yeah I did forget! . In reflecting on the last three years writing for this blog I realize how many ways writing has been healing on so any levels. Occasionally a book comes along that you physically cannot put down.  It draws you in, moves you and does not let go.  “The Barn Dance” by James Twyman IS such a book.  It is written from James’s personal experience about contact with his ex wife, Linda 3 1/2 years AFTER she was brutally murdered.  Call it a lucid dream, call it a world between worlds where the veil is thin… James came back from the experience with a deep healing and proof he HAD in fact been in contact with Linda. Art CAN help people to heal from emotional, spiritual and physical illness.  I talked about this in my post, “Art – Spiritual and Healing” when I profiled my step-mother, Darcy Lynn‘s healing from cancer.  I was recently introduced to a truly inspirational woman; Rita Loyd who healed herself through painting. Rita Loyd faced many hardships including abuse and depression and overcame them as well as her physical disease. Have you ever caught yourself in a routine that is not healthy either physically, emotionally or mentally and asked yourself “WHY, AM I DOING THIS?”?  I was away last weekend in NYC and it is funny how some of the habits come back the instant I am there.  Luckily this past weekend I DID catch myself and spent my time more wisely than I have done in the past.  By becoming conscious there are more and more moments where YOU get to choose ultimately HOW you want to act instead of being on automatic pilot and wow is it ALWAYS SO WORTH IT!
