I recommend checking out BIGFISHGAMES for lots of different game options. They have them broken down by category so it’s easy to find the kid friendly ones. They offer a free download for one hour to try out MOST of these games and when the trial runs out you have to either uninstall the game or log on to buy the full version. This is great if you aren’t sure about purchasing and want to make sure your child likes the game before paying money for it.
One game I’d recommend to try the free trial for is Mysterious case Files:Ravenhurst. It is a find the objects game and in doing so you put together diary pages for clues. It says for ages 10 and up and maybe somewhere later there is scariness or something that warrants it. I played it with my 8 year old son and he was just fine with it. There are other Mysterious Case Files games to try out as well. If you like it you might opt for buying a used one online for a significant discount.
Big Fish is a fun site to try games out. I don’t recommend having young kids on it alone since they could potentially download a lot of games for you to have to take off later. I think it’s great for you and your child to look for potential presents, assess the games before buying and ensuring they will like them.
