Wii Game Reviews

Time to review the games we got for Christmas for the Nintendo Wii as well as a few of our favorites. I still am a HUGE fan of the Wii and honestly can’t imagine our home without it. We still play the original game that came with it more than any of the others, “Wii Sports” but there are a lot of other wonderful ones out there.

I mentioned Mario Party 8 in another post and this is still a GREAT one for the whole family. All 4 of us can play and have fun. I recommend this for ages 5 and up. Lots of great ways to play as an adventure, mini games or like a board game with mini games.

In the same feel as Mario Party 8 is Sonic and the Secret Rings which is good for 4 players as well. You can either play…

“Be Tween Talk” — GREAT Free, Safe Online site for Games and More for "Tweens"

I get so excited when I find out about new children’s gaming sites popping up. This next one is no exception and it really is groundbreaking in the way it is designed. “Be tween talk” offers a forum platform as well as games, quizzes, blogs and a Role Playing Game for kids in that “Tween Age” (9-12). I signed my son up and I feel he is old enough but with a lot of reading required I think that would be the youngest I would recommend it for (He’s age 8). Although I know my daughter who is almost 5 saw my son playing games on it last night and asked if she could try some.

The environment has a very safe feel. Your child needs to sign up using an adult email address so an adult can approve the membership.…

Empowered Parent, Orisinal and Jay is Games offer GREAT Games for Kids

I came across a site that I really liked over the weekend. Joan Bramsch offers a site that recommends appropriate kid’s computer games at Empowered Parent. She also offers stories to read as well as articles for kids, teenagers and parents to read. Every parent could benefit from spending a little time at her site.

One of Joan Bramsch’s links for games is from one of my favorite game creators. I had not looked at some of his games in a while and I certainly did not realize JUST how many games he was responsible for. I came across Ferry Halim while exploring my favorite site for flash games Jay is Games. If you haven’t checked out Jay is Games yet I definitely recommend you do. Not all games are appropriate for kids so you might have to get a free account and…

Printables for Kids

Printable activities for kids are very handy for car trips, to get the kids AWAY from the computer and for another fun activity alternative. There are many sites that do include printable activities and I have written about a few but never highlighted that fact before. I recently found a site that JUST has printable activities called Printables4kids.com.

Printables4kids has printable word scrambles, mazes, coloring pages and activities for different ages and for a lot of your kid’s favorite characters. This week they are pointing to Alvin and the Chipmunks which is VERY timely due to my daughter’s obsession with the movie. They also have Webkinz printables which I have not seen anywhere else. You have to have Adobe Acrobat installed to print any of the activities.

A few other sites I have reviewed that have excellent printable activity sections are:
Conceptis Puzzles —…

Up To Ten Site Review

Hi everyone and a very Happy New Year to all of you! I was so happy to have Cyn tell me bout a kid’s online game site for children that are younger than ten called Up To Ten. Thank you Cyn and if anyone else ever has a site they want me to check out - PLEASE let me know. I love it because it gives me an opportunity to find out about the new site for the blog AS WELL as for my own kids.

Up To Ten has activities for free, a paid membership and has a portion of its sites where schools sign up. The numerous free activities include coloring and artistic pages, games, puzzles, mazes, Boowa and Kwala stories and games (from an animated series I don’t know but cute characters) and creating animated greeting cards. The site is…
