I came across a site that I really liked over the weekend. Joan Bramsch offers a site that recommends appropriate kid’s computer games at Empowered Parent. She also offers stories to read as well as articles for kids, teenagers and parents to read. Every parent could benefit from spending a little time at her site.

One of Joan Bramsch’s links for games is from one of my favorite game creators. I had not looked at some of his games in a while and I certainly did not realize JUST how many games he was responsible for. I came across Ferry Halim while exploring my favorite site for flash games Jay is Games. If you haven’t checked out Jay is Games yet I definitely recommend you do. Not all games are appropriate for kids so you might have to get a free account and bookmark some of your favorites that are kid-friendly.

Back to Ferry Halim. I found his Orisinal games at Jay is Games and have liked them ever since. Cats is my favorite but there are TONS more to explore. They all have soothing music, beautiful graphics and are relatively short games (although I have played Cats for longer than I would care to admit!). 99.9% are appropriate for ALL ages. There is one sword game you might not like for kids but it doesn’t have any graphic violence in it. My almost 5 year old daughter can play Cats and a few of the others but I would recommend most of the games for ages 6 or 7 and up. There is reading involved in figuring out the keys to use for each individual game.

What I learned by exploring Ferry Halim‘s site is that he has also developed a lot of games for Cartoon Network and more. A brilliant game designer and I highly recommend you checking out some of his stuff. Again, it might take a parent going through first but guaranteed you will walk away with tons of new games for the whole family to play.

Thank you Joan Bramsch for your inspiring site to help families and great game recommendations. Thank you Ferry Halim for having such unique and beautiful games at Orisinal and beyond! Thank you Jay is Games for continuing to introduced SO many awesome flash games for kids and adults!

I taught kids through computer games for many years in NYC. There are many educational games that are FUN as well. There is no need for your child to play games with violence. I only recommend quality and safe games and sites here.
