Kids Computer Games Recommendations

My favorite genre of games is adventure games for kids and for adults. They teach how to solve logical problems, are usually filled with tons of humor and when the kids can finally solve them by themselves they feel a real sense of accomplishment. These usually require some adult help at first but you will have fun while doing so. Humongous Entertainment Games have been around for a while and I am so happy to see some of the games being available on Wii now as well. Shape Switcher

Shape Switcher is a puzzle game easy to get addicted to. Simple enough to amuse kids and interesting enough to make adults want to finish all 13 levels. You have to figure out which shape or color you need to be to make it through the stage and reach the star. The shape shifter is cute and this game will help kids with logical thinking, shapes and colors. Have fun!

I reviewed the Play First Games Site last April (and recommended and highlighted over 10 games there) but since then they have added so many new great games that I wanted to do a follow up review. Play First Games allows you to play games online (for free), download games to your mobile, PC or MAC for trial periods or buy the whole game. They have so many different categories and types of games. Due to the fact that after you play some you might be downloading I feel this site is better for tweens on up (9 & up) if unsupervised. There are certainly MANY REALLY GOOD age appropriate games for younger children… it will just require some supervision and exploring the site with the child first.

Every once in a while I find a cute game I want to post. Hope you enjoy this one. It is called Giraffe Above. Guide the Giraffe’s neck through the maze eating apples along the way. Plot your route carefully so you don’t get stuck. Also, when monkeys appear you run into them before they bump into your neck (which will end your game) I like that you have to think ahead in this game and the levels increase in difficulty (throwing in space warps along the way). Fun for ages 6 and up. Even younger can play but might get frustrated as it gets harder….
