I was feeling pretty out of sorts recently and was wondering HOW I was going to find the answers I was seeking and feel better quickly. I decided a walk with my MP3 player was a good place to start.Β I set my IPod to Shuffle and set my intention and prayer to the Universe — Please show me by the songs what I need to do.Β I was pleasantly surprised when the first song came on and was exactly what I needed to hear.Β I did it with other questions that have been popping up in my life and answer after answer came – in the form of lyrics in songs – some I had never heard but were B-tracks off of CD’s I had uploaded.Β The walk in nature and the answers I received followed by a rainbow when there was no rain were healing beyond belief.Β I wanted to share some of the pictures from my walks recently along with one of the songs that came on, “Believe” by Lenny Kravitz.Β I found it appropriate and the lyrics are below the slideshow.Β Enjoy.
Slide Show
Lenny Kravitz “Believe”
I am you and you are me
Why’s that such a mystery?
If you want it you got to believe
Who are we? We’re who we are
Riding on the great big star
We’ve got to stand up if were gonna be free yeah
If you want it you got it
You just got to believe
Believe in yourself
cause its all just a game
We just want to be loved
The son of God is in our face
Offering us eternal grace
If you want it you’ve got to believe
cause being free is a state of mind
Well one day leave this all behind
Just put your faith in God and one day you’ll see it
If you want it you got it
You just got to believe
Believe in yourself
cause its all just a game
We just want to be loved
The futures in our present hands
Lets reach right in
Lets understand
If you want it you’ve got to believe yeah
If you want it you got it
You just got to believe
Believe in yourself yeah
cause its all just a game
We just want to be loved
I highly recommend trying the above exercise — go for a walk set your IPOD/MP3 player on shuffle, ask questions and see what comes up! π
BEAUTIFUL! Thanks for this, Jenny. Hugs, love and smiles~
.-= Camille´s last blog ..just a thought…. =-.
Jenny,
I love this exercise. What a beautiful area you live in and instant messages you received, as well. I think I’ve noticed this shuffle synchronicity a few times, but I don’t generally use the shuffle function and hadn’t thought of doing it consciously and with a question. It reminds me a little of what I call telepathic radio, when you’re riding in the car and just the right songs come on to suit your mood or situation in the moment. I sold my car four years ago to move to NYC so haven’t experienced that musical phenomenon in while. Will use it! Thank you!
Hi Camille,
Thanks for watching lovely lady! Congrats on your new writing gig – I will continue to visit and stumble! VERY impressive! π Big hugs – let’s catch up SOON!
Love, Jenny
Hi Jan,
So glad you enjoyed it! Yes, it’s funny that I was surprised but not at the same time… I had EXPECTED it to work and boy did it! Made me laugh and cry! Life is always so much easier than we make it – doing little things like this can truly show how connected we are to everything around us. We are never without guidance – just have to get creative sometimes when our usual “tools” seem to not be doing the trick!
I grew up in NYC so understand about the no music in cars – but wow did I love (at the time) my walkman and a long walk through the streets or in Central Park! Thanks so much for your comment!
Gratefully,
Jenny
Thanks for this — this song was a real source of inspiration for me during high school, and although I’m not nostalgic for most of my high school experience, I can still appreciate the song. π
Thanks Chris,
I listened to a lot of Lenny Kravitz and even saw him in a small concert venue (which was awesome). π I have not listened to him much lately – but the beauty of the mp3 shuffle is it brings these old songs that did have memories back… It is a good one and one I especially needed to hear in that moment… the rest that followed answered other questions I had but I felt the first one was to “get me in the right space” I needed to be in to even HEAR and receive those other answers. π I’m pretty spoiled feeling good 90% or more of the time so those times when I am overwhelmed I am very quick to ask questions and “figure it all out”. π This exercise helped.
Always lovely to hear from you.
Love,
Jenny
Jenny,
I would tend to say that nature itself is just very healing. And I think that’s because it’s something that connects to to something Greater. And your pictures above just show this – I feel the natural beauty in them. And setting an intention can surely be powerful and moving, can’t it.
.-= Lance´s last blog ..Escaping Adulthood =-.
Hi Lance,
You are absolutely right – nature itself is so very healing. Usually (99% of the time) a walk will clear my head and help me gain clarity. Last week I was in a funk so deep my monkey mind was acting like there was a bushel of bananas in front of it that it couldn’t quite reach… Any time I attempted to take quiet time the chatter would get louder. This exercise allowed me to have the distraction of music but with a clear purpose – listening to lyrics in the 7 songs that were chosen for me really helped me to “hear” the words and answers I needed.
It has been interesting — these times get fewer and further between as I am on my spiritual journey but I am almost harder on myself each and every time they happen. I EXPECT a walk or meditation or self healing to work and when they don’t boy can I be very hard on myself. I was very happy to find another tool to add to my toolbox and oh so grateful I finally got that monkey to sleep by getting the answers I was seeking. π
I too think the connection to nature is so very healing. It grounds me and also makes me understand I am not alone nor should I be taking myself so seriously. Nature always knows what to do, when to grow, change, hibernate… it is that effortlessness I have experienced at times that is so beautiful — there truly are no words. π
Thanks Lance — I say morning gratitude every day and today is definitely one where I can feel the beauty and gratitude for nature in every cell as well as gratitude for the connection to you my friend! π
Love,
Jenny
Beautiful pictures and song, and I love the way synchronicity worked through the lyrics…Walking in nature is one of my favorite ways of gaining clarity too, and my dog loves it! Can’t wait to see your new blog look (seems everyone is getting a makeover lately but me, maybe I should think about it), and writing…

Hi Lisa,
I love your site — no changes necessary — I have been feeling like I needed a change for a while due to the sidebars that have little room for adjustment… one of those things I didn’t realize about the layout until after it was all set…. I feel lucky Ray is a programmer – and it is fun to work with him — we work well together. π
Writing is something I need to do more of. I am working on video products and the revamp of this site along with some things locally – so it feels like writing is coming in waves.
I did LOVE the synchronicities and will use that exercise again. The park near my house is one of my favorite places in the world. It has helped me so many times and was the first place I began to walk a lot as I was healing.
Always lovely to hear from you Lisa! π Hope all is well — always wish we were closer! Some day we’ll take a nice long walk together!
Love, xoxo

Hi Jen – love the NEW THEME!!!! Am I the first commenter to see it? Woohoo! (I realise this isn’t the point – I can’t help myself)
And I have been like a kid in a candy store watching your pics video and your intro video over on the right, both at the same time – I finished the slides one and Frank yelled out “Lenny Kravitz”, and I called back “do you know that song?” – and he said Shazam found it (it’s the fancy song identification app on his iPhone).
Get better soon, Jenny – I know you will. And CONGRATS on the new look – love from Rob xx
.-= Robin´s last blog ..Keeping Body And Soul Together =-.
Hey Robin!
You ARE the first commenter to see it. π I just made the official announcement on Facebook and will be continuing to tweak it over the next few days to get the sidebar how I want it to look.
I am SO happy you like it. It was a joy to work with Ray on it. I shot the video yesterday! I am very excited as I have been wanting to make this leap a while but you know the work that goes into a change! π
NOW I can get back to writing and my other projects which I am very excited to do. I am feeling MUCH better and much more myself these days! Thank Goodness! π
Thanks for all your kind words Robin! They are deeply appreciated! Looks like you have a new post – yea – I am excited to check it out!
Much love, xo
Jenny
Every choice is a loving stage in a very meaningful journey. Thanks for choosing to share intimate parts of the authentic self. EVeryone has opportunities to expand every moment.
Hi Jenny – What a great way to find inspiration and guidance. And the pictures are beautiful. The last one looks a lot like a place that I sometimes walk over here in the UK.
.-= Cath Lawson´s last blog ..Be Smart Like An Animal =-.
Hi Liara,
I DO love to share! π There are always ways to expand and learn. Sometimes when everything seems to be happening at once or I am faced with a new kind of challenge — it takes me a little while to remember that and turn inwards to my soul and outwards to source for the answers. I am getting better but that human side sure is strong sometimes! Always lovely to read your words Liara – thank you.
Love,
Jenny
Hi Cath,
Thank you! Oh how I long to go to the UK – I have a few really good old friend there as well as all the new cool friends I have met through blogging! I know it will happen and the pictures I have seen keep that an intention. π
Walking in this park soothes my soul for sure. I have walked or cross country skied there for the last 5 years. I never cease to be amazed by its beauty. I love feeling the seasons so deeply and this exercise showed me another way to enjoy it.
Lots of Love, xo
Jenny
Oh Jenny this is beautiful. You KNOW I love Nature. And I believe Nature is so healing because it doesn’t judge, it just IS, it is full of communications, peace, endless compassion, sensory messages that we can feel, hear, touch, taste, colors we can see and so much more that has no words or explanations. But more than this Nature is so healing because we ARE Nature. So we return to source and once again know ourselves. If we can go into Nature without all the “toys” and machinery, and simply be “with” Nature we will know without words or even books who we are.
I am so enjoying hearing your voice on the side video about your healing journey.
You have a deeply kind soul.
Much love,
Robin
.-= Robin Easton´s last blog ..Five Perspectives on Death =-.
Hi Robin,
Yes, I do LOVE nature too! I wrote a post a few months back about what I learned from a mommy bird in a labyrinth and feel every time I go for a walk I come back with something. π The link to the post is: https://jennymannion.com/healpain/2009/07/healing-lesson-from-the-labyrinth/
Thanks so much for watching the video. I am making more these days and as long as I don’t watch them any more than editing requires I am fine. π They are getting much easier to film as long as I don’t over-rehearse what I will say – better when I speak from my soul and heart. π
You are a deeply kind soul as well Robin. I am so happy we have met and can share our journeys across the globe. Though someday I hope to give you a BIG HUG!
Much Love, xo
Jenny
Hi Jenny
I enjoyed the reflective post from you a lot and can really relate. The video slide show with the song was great too. Grounded me in the present moment and yes, if we want it, we really have to believe. That is probably the first and most principal thing to know and understand about how we get what we get.
And of course, I can so relate to the fall and changing colors. They have been spectacular here lately, but are now coming to a quick end. The cold of winter and gray, barren landscapes are coming – but with them, the hope and anticipation of the season of new life – spring. (As you can tell I am not a winter person π
Thank you for this valuable reminder Jenny.
.-= Evita´s last blog ..14 Things I Canβt Live Without =-.
Hi Evita,
I am NOT a winter person either – yet ANOTHER thing we have in common! I DO love the change of seasons but 1-2 months of cold would be enough for me. When we decided to move here I said “I need a winter sport” and have been cross country skiing ever since. Saturday mornings if there is snow I am at the local park with girlfriends. Spring is my favorite – like you said — the beginning of life – I love the promise of 6 months of warm weather too π and gardening!
Thanks for your sweet comments – I am glad you liked the slide show and the song and believing IS always the first step. I can usually remember that but sometimes I still get overwhelmed with all I want to do and boy do I still have an issue with “wanting it all now” instead of just knowing “it all is as it should be” as I was just reminded of AGAIN in a regression. Yeah, some messages take me a while to really HEAR them! π Ahh the human side of us keeps it entertaining that’s for sure!
Lots of Love, xoxo
Jenny
