Welcome to Healing Answers Edition #6

This edition is slightly different. I had 2 questions come in within a day of each other that were very similar. It made me KNOW it was an important one to answer but I also felt the wording the 2 different people used was important so I am including both.

Pamela asks,  “How does one overcome illness using the mind when the mind is in a state of distress?

and Patti stated that her biggest barrier is fear and asks, “How were you able to do this and maintain it especially after so many treatments and tests?

Thank you Patti and Pamela for your questions I look forward to our work together. 🙂

When we have been ill it is very normal to have distress and be discouraged. We have most likely heard a Western limited view of our dis-ease. Usually these include limiting terms like “chronic, painful, debilitating, progressive and sometimes even ‘terminal'”. Undergoing medical tests is far from an uplifting experience between sometimes fasting, the waiting for the test, the test itself, the follow up and the unease while waiting for the results. I went through seven years of it – sometimes seeing doctors as often as 3-4 times a week and I know it is challenging to keep a happy face on. Doctors are doing the best they can from what they have been taught but what most doctors in the Western world have been taught for chronic illnesses is about controlling the symptoms NOT healing.  Not because the doctors don’t want you to heal… they are basing it on biology, past studies and what they have been told.

It is important to realize if we were in another part of the world – our treatment might be QUITE different. There are also MANY types of alternative healing that DO HELP CURE/HEAL disease. Remember you are getting a limited view and as a first suggestion if you need to – google “alternative treatments” for whatever the disease is or look on amazon.com for a similar search. Simply letting your mind KNOW there are people that have healed “from what you have” IS helpful.

For me, it was helpful to know that the body is always recreating cells. That ALL of us is 99.9999% NEW in 11 months. So WHERE our mind is and if we ARE repeating the messages of how sick we are – we are helping the body create “sick” cells instead of “healthy cells”. By KNOWING this and what I stated above by doing a search we are reprogramming our mind a bit. We have already heard how much being ill will tear apart our lives, how many medications we will need to be on and other limiting statements.  It is important to let your mind know “there are OTHER possible outcomes”. reading Dr. Deepak Chopra’s books helped me tremendously because they were on the mind/body connection and how powerful we all are. He is a doctor of Eastern and Western medicine and has studied spirituality extensively – it makes for the perfect doctor in my opinion. He does truly understand healing is possible.

Okay so you know the “practical” side now but what about when you simply feel “badly”. You wake up with aches and your body says “nope, you DEFINITELY ARE SICK”.  There are a few things that helped me with this. If you read my book you will get the full tools that I used to help but I will highlight the ones that were MOST important to me here. Gratitude is HUGE – saying what you are grateful for in your head or out loud before you go to bed and when you wake up in the morning is SOOOO powerful.  When we are ill it is very easy to concentrate on what is BAD or not working or what we “can’t do”. In the morning and before bed we are in a state where our subconscious is listening and receiving even more deeply. If we wake up saying “Ow I am going to have a REALLY bad day” – so be it. I know it is not easy and even impossible to LIE to your body and I am not asking you to do that. By expressing gratitude you are putting it in the right frame of mind and opening yourself up for more goodness. There are also affirmations but the MOST important thing is to make them believable. If you said “I am healed – I feel great” when your body is feeling anything but – it is counter productive… your ego will rise up and say “No I am not – don’t you FEEL THIS”.  Instead choose something that DOES work for you.  “I am working on my healing and feeling a little better every day”. “I am finding tools to heal” I am taking control of my body and creating happy and healthy cells by using my mind (you can even imagine little cells with happy faces on them to get a smile out of yourself)”. I also remember in the 3 weeks it took to get off my medications – after I would take a pain pill I would imagine that I felt that way without it.  I would FEEL how happy that would make me feel if I could wake up every day feeling like that.

We all have little tricks that work better for ourselves.  Being kind is of utmost importance too. If you have a bad pain day please don’t beat yourself up for it. Know that maybe your body needed to rest that day and it is OKAY.  Listen to your body. I have my clients ask their bodies what they can do to make it better.  Our bodies ARE always communicating with us.  Fear and distress are negative emotions and they will crop up sometimes. In the last Healing Answers Post I addressed this and ways to cope with challenging emotions.

I never knew I could heal myself of everything. I KNEW by changing my thoughts and emotions around my diseases I WOULD FEEL BETTER than I had been for 7 years. I knew that people HAD healed themselves of “terminal cancer”, MS and more – so why couldn’t I make myself feel a bit better? I knew that I had my mind in a “dis-ease” state rather than a “healing” state and that by simply shifting a bit – things had to change at least a little.  I am not saying it will all be easy.. but celebrate each time you feel a little better and forgive yourself the times “it just doesn’t work and you feel badly”. In your search through google you may find a way to heal that resonates with you. By putting that “healing” energy out there rather than the “sick” energy you will also call the resources to you that you need. I have heard from many clients tell me, “I just found you online and KNEW you could help me”. I don’t ever KNOW if I can help facilitate a full physical recovery before I begin with a client but I always have that as a possibility as I have seen in happen many times. Healing IS possible.  Keep telling yourself that. Why NOT you? Think of all the wonderful things you could do if you were better and get into the energy of THAT – THAT is healing energy. When we begin to let our minds KNOW anything is possible.. it truly is!!!

    Hello,

I have been learning a lot about the connection of the body and mind. It seems the more I learn the more difficult it becomes to help myself. Everyone says it is a choice. I wish I could explain the state of my mind and how I feel, but sometimes it is difficult to even no where I am in the middle of my own life. I had a lot of stuff come up this year from past trauma and from the beginning of this year I have been literally surviving from moment to moment. I have heard a lot about the law of attraction, I would like to know more about that. The science behind it and how to shift it gently.
